Our exceptional team, every member of which is a licensed professional in Tennessee, includes an implant dentist, a cosmetic dentist, and a periodontist. Dr. William Locante offers expertise in complex full mouth rehabilitation and cosmetic dentistry along with specialized training in and emphasis on dental implants. He serves patients at both of our locations. Dr. Nancy Highland focuses on providing exceptional cosmetic and family dentistry. Dr. Paul Bland, our resident periodontist, ensures a healthy base of bone and gums for all our smiles. Drs. Highland and Bland see patients at our Memphis location. Dr. William Locante

Dr. William Locante is the cornerstone of our Nashville-area cosmetic and implant practice, and is a premiere dentist serving Brentwood and all of Tennessee. His friendly approach and comforting chairside manner help to put his patients at ease. At the Southern Dental Implant Center, he focuses his practice on implant dentistry and dental surgery. He received his degree in dental surgery from the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1986 with dental implant therapy as his focus.

Dr. Locante later received extensive training in dental surgery, periodontics, and endodontics in the U.S. Navy through the U.S. Marine Corps. He also received certification in multifaceted implantology from the University of New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry and Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He is trained and certified to provide IV (intravenous) and conscious sedation dentistry. He is also certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and was an ACLS instructor for several years.

Implant Dentistry Expertise

Dr. William Locante has been practicing implant dentistry since 1988 and is certified as an implant dentist by the American Board of Oral Implantology. He has devoted his professional life to the field of implant dentistry as a teacher, lecturer, researcher, innovator, and developer.

• Implant Design, Surgical Techniques, and Research - Dr. Locante has assisted in the design and development of dental implants for several major manufacturers, and has developed and refined implant surgical techniques that are used worldwide. He has patents on several of these techniques and has been involved in bioprotein research to improve bone grafting and augmentation techniques.
  
  
• Teaching and Training - As an experienced implant dentist, Dr. Locante teaches all phases of implant dentistry to dentists all over the world. In addition to providing regular implant dentistry courses at his teaching center, he is a member of the International Teaching Faculty for the AAID (American Academy of Implant Dentistry). He has also developed teaching protocol for the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantology) for teaching dental hygienists proper care of implants and implant-restored teeth.

Dr. Locante has been named a diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He was a past president of the Southern District of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), of which he is a trustee at the national level. Dr. Nancy Highland

At the Southern Dental Implant Center, Dr. Nancy Highland focuses her practice on offering patients general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry care. In addition to providing preventive care and routine exams for patients of all ages as a general dentist, Dr. Highland is also a skilled cosmetic dentist. She offers a range of cosmetic dentistry options, including teeth whitening, the placement of porcelain veneers, tooth colored fillings, and other transformative procedures. She has the skill and experience to combine several cosmetic options for a dramatic transformation, and she can help you design the smile you've always wanted.

Dr. Highland is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and she practiced dentistry in Michigan before moving to Memphis in 2005. She is married to Matt and has two children. Dr. Highland is also an avid runner and competes in local and national competitions. Patients love her gentle and kind nature and her focus on high quality dental care.

Dr. Paul Bland

Dr. Paul Bland is one of the premier periodontists in Tennessee, and we are happy to have him as part of the Southern Dental Implant Center team. Dr. Bland believes that every patient deserves to have a sparkling smile and a clean, healthy mouth. As part of our team, he treats Memphis area patients along side our implant and cosmetic dentist. Dr. Bland has extensive experience in caring for the periodontal needs of patients of all ages, offering procedures such as gum cosmetic surgery and the treatment of periodontal disease. He always makes sure that his patients remain comfortable during treatments and that they reach their individual dental goals.

Dr. Bland was born in Orlando, Florida and received his undergraduate degree from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. He received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and an advanced education certificate in periodontology, both from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He has been in private practice and part of the faculty of the College of Dentistry since 1994, and he currently serves as interim chairman of the department of periodontology, where he is an assistant professor. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, Memphis Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

The Southern Dental Implant Center offers two convenient locations. All of our dentists are available at our Memphis location where they offer a range of cosmetic and restorative dentistry options, including dental implants. Our Nashville location is dedicated to implant dentistry services, including the surgical placement and restoration of implants, performed exclusively by Dr. Locante. Dr, Locante is pleased to work with a patient’s existing general dentist performing the surgical aspect of treatment, while the patient’s general dentist completes the restorations.  Dr. Locante works with an extensive group of referring doctors in a team approach to patient’s treatment.
